Summary
Overview
Originally released in 1958, the Jazzmaster underwent some striking changes between the development of the first prototypes and the final version that saw the light of day. The Vintage Custom 1958 Jazzmaster represents one of these earliest known prototypes, and offers some unique, rare features. The most obvious change is the tinted riftsawn maple Strat® neck, with a "Soft V"-shaped profile, sports a Jazzmaster decal on the Strat headstock. The two-piece select alder body wears a classic Custom Color Desert Sand NOS flash coat lacquer finish that, besides being period-accurate, will wear in a personal way while letting the wood breathe with more resonance. The 1-ply black anodized pickguard and vintage-style logo-less Jazzmaster bridge plate are also authentic appointments, offering a rare, cool glimpse into Fender history.
Other features include 21 medium-vintage frets, Hand-Wound Jazzmaster pickups, 3-position toggle switch, 2-position slide switch, vintage wiring, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and wing string tree. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
